Bill and Ray Mazelin joined us for a hunt in January. Although it is not such a good time of the year for a hunt in our part of the world because of the heat, they wanted to do it. Lots of fun was had by all, and it was such a privilege for us to experience the special bond between two brothers.

“Brother Ray and I are at @fortrichmondsafaris for some fun in the sun! It’s been “Africa Hot.” I shot the first of our two warthogs yesterday afternoon. These pigs are super fun to hunt. More to come. We’re using our @gunwerks “The Cut” rifles.” Bill Mazelin

An old Kudu bull. His teeth worn down to the gum line, a broken horn, on his own since the younger bulls kicked him out. He died a warrior’s death. He probably would’ve lived through the summer and fall when food was plentiful, doubtful he would’ve survived the next winter here. The type of trophy one dreams about – the really old mature bulls.

“Yesterday was blue wildebeest Tuesday. Ray got his about 09:30 on a glorious South African “morning, with a well-placed shot. I got mine in the late afternoon around 17:15, also with a single well-placed shot. The first Blue Wildebeests for each of us. Magnificent animals. A challenge to get into position for the shots.” Bill Mazelin The blue wildebeest has an awesome coat. Bill and Ray are having European mounts done for the skull & horns, and a flat skin for the hides.

Waterbuck taken by Bill. Caliber and load used – 6.5PRC, Gunwerks custom ammo, 140gr Berger Elite Hunter @ 2,945PFS muzzle velocity.

We had an outstanding trip. Bill Mazelin
